How does the SoundTouch® Series II wireless adapter work?
The adapter lets you stream your favorite music, such as Internet radio and your music library using your home Wi-Fi® network.
What products are compatible with the SoundTouch® Series II wireless adapter?
The adapter is compatible with Lifestyle® Series II and II home entertainment systems; Lifestyle® SoundTouch®, SoundTouch® home cinema systems and CineMate® 520, 130 and 120 home cinema systems.
Is the SoundTouch® Series II wireless adapter difficult to set up?
No. You can complete the one-time set-up process in just a few simple steps. After that, use the free SoundTouch® app to explore and manage your music.
How do I update the adapter software?
SoundTouch® system software can be easily updated over the customer's network through the free SoundTouch® app. The app will let the user know when an update is available for each connected SoundTouch® system.
Can I use the SoundTouch® system without a home network?
No. SoundTouch® systems require access to a home network, whether for wired or wireless access. Wi-Fi® is supported in all SoundTouch® products for wireless access. Ethernet is available for all products for wired access. In addition, the SoundTouch® app needs access to the same home network in order to control and configure a SoundTouch® system.
What is the wireless range of SoundTouch® products?
SoundTouch® products require a good signal from your home network to function properly. Wherever your laptop or mobile Internet devices stream media content successfully in your home today, your SoundTouch® products should also work well. Your home network range depends on many factors, including your Wi-Fi® access point capabilities, the relative location of the Wi-Fi® access point and Internet devices, home construction materials, the number of simultaneous Wi-Fi® devices, the number and strength of adjacent Wi-Fi® networks, and interfering signals, such as microwave ovens.
Will a Bose® home cinema system with SoundTouch® work without Internet access?
Yes, but in limited fashion. Without Internet access, SoundTouch® systems that have already been set up can still play music stored on any computer connected to the network. However, you will not be able to stream music from the Internet or set new presets. Similarly, you will not be able to set up a new system without Internet access.
Will I experience interference from other wireless devices or between SoundTouch® products?
Because there may be many Wi-Fi® devices attached to your home cinema systems, it is possible that there may be some interference between them. The SoundTouch® adapter comes with 1.8-metre connectors so you can move the adapter away from sources of interference. In addition, all Wi-Fi® devices share the available bandwidth of the home network. As the number of devices increases, the bandwidth demands on the home network increases at a faster multiplier than the number of devices added to the network. Also, devices located long distances from the home network access point can also reduce the overall throughput of the network. A congested home network or a widely separated network can negatively impact the music experience (e.g., audio dropouts). Beyond this, as with any wireless product, we can expect interference from other wireless devices, other wireless networks and appliances like microwave ovens.
Can the SoundTouch® app control my Bose® home cinema system?
Yes. The SoundTouch® app will allow you to turn on or switch to SoundTouch® sources, and then control volume. It will also control volume of the system when listening to something other than your SoundTouch® source. It will not control any of the home cinema functions or control any attached sources.
