Making audio and video connections

Refer to the owner's guide of the product being connected for more detailed instructions.

Follow the steps below to make connections to the system.

To pass a video signal through the system

Connect video cable(s) (composite or S-video) to the video output jack(s) of the external device.

Connect the other end of the cable(s) to the video input jack(s) on the Bose® system connection panel.

Connect another video cable of the same type to the video output jack(s) (VIDEO OUT TO TV) of the Bose system and to an appropriate video input jack(s) on the TV.

Note: The Bose system will not convert the video signal. The same type of cable (composite or S-video) must be used for both input and output.

To connect analogue audio to the system

Connect stereo (dual RCA) cables to the left and right audio output jacks of the external device. The jacks are often marked "Audio OUT," "Monitor OUT," "Line OUT" or "Play."

Connect the other ends of these cables to available left and right audio input jacks (AUDIO IN) on the Bose system connection panel.

If the external device is mono, connect the single connector of an RCA Y-adapter to the device output jack. Connect stereo RCA cables to the Y-adapter.

To connect digital coaxial audio to the system

Connect a digital coaxial cable to the digital audio output jack of the external device. This is often marked "Digital Audio OUT," "PCM OUT," "SPDIF OUT" or "Dolby Digital OUT."

Connect the other end of this cable to an available digital coaxial input jack on the connection panel of the Bose system.

Note: When using a digital audio connection, also connect RCA analogue audio cables. Connect the left and right audio outputs of the external device to the left and right Aux audio inputs on the connection panel of the Bose system. If the digital signal drops out, the analogue connection will prevent loss of audio.

To connect a digital optical audio cable to the system

Connect a digital optical cable to the digital optical output jack of the external device. This is often marked "Digital Audio OUT," "PCM OUT," "SPDIF OUT," "Optical OUT," "Toslink" or "Dolby Digital OUT."

Connect the other end of this cable to the digital optical input on the Bose system connection panel.

  • Some external devices require the optical output to be activated internally. Refer to the device owner's guide for information
  • When using a digital audio connection, also connect RCA analogue audio cables. Connect the left and right audio outputs of the external device to the left and right audio inputs for the assigned source on the Bose connection panel. If the digital signal drops out, the analogue connection will prevent loss of audio
