No sound from wireless surround speakers

If you can't hear audio from the optional wireless surround speakers, try the following:

Try playing content that is known to have rear-channel audio. The amount of sound coming from the rear speakers can vary depending on the source material being played. Music and most TV shows typically do not have sounds to play through the rear speakers of a surround sound system. Movies and video games typically do have sounds to play through the rear speakers but it will not be constant

Expect a varying level of sound from the rear speakers depending on what is being played.

Make sure that the surround speakers are turned on in the Adjustments screen of the soundbar

  1. In the Bose Music app, from the My Bose screen (accessible via the headphone and speaker icon in the upper-left corner), select your soundbar
  2. Tap the soundbar image in the bottom-right corner of the screen
  3. Under the Accessory Settings section, the toggle switch of the surround speakers should be positioned to the right to enable this accessory
  • If the switch is set to the left, tap the switch once to turn on the surround speakers
  • If the switch position is set to the right, tap the switch twice to re-enable audio to the surround speakers

Determine the status of the surround speakers by observing the colour and blink pattern of the light on the front of each wireless receiver

If the audio source is a device connected to the TV, the TV may not output a 5.1 audio—a multi-channel signal that provides discrete surround speaker content. Some TVs only output stereo, 2.0 audio signals from connected devices, even if the source content is 5.1. Refer to the owner's guide for your TV to determine whether it is able to output a 5.1 signal from a connected device

Check for sources of wireless interference that may be within a few metres of the soundbar or wireless receiver. Devices that can affect the wireless performance of the system include, but are not limited to, a cordless phone, Wi-Fi® router, wireless printer or microwave

To identify a possible source of interference, try temporarily unplugging the device and restarting the Bose system to determine whether performance has improved.

Relocate the Bose system or device causing interference. This may require at least 1.8 metres of distance between the two devices. For devices that cannot be relocated, change the Wi-Fi channel or wireless frequency used by that device.

Reset the soundbar and wireless receivers by unplugging their power cables from the power sockets, waiting 30 seconds and then firmly plugging the power cables back into working sockets

Check the condition of the speaker wires as well as their connections between the wireless receivers, speaker adapters and surround speakers. Replace any wires that may have been damaged or pinched

Run ADAPTiQ to ensure the surround speakers have been incorporated into the setup and calibrated for the listening area. Refer to Running ADAPTiQ audio calibration for more information
