Cannot hear own voice in headset

To resolve this issue, try the following:

When connected to the PC Desktop Controller, use the button on the side of the controller to adjust the mic monitoring.

Mic monitoring controls how much of your own voice you hear while using the headset. Press the button on the controller to turn on mic monitoring. Repeat to cycle between low, medium, high, and off.

In the sound settings menu of the connected device, verify microphone audio is not muted, disabled or its input level is set too low.

Note: The instructions below are subject to vary due to reasons such as different operating system software versions, user interface settings, and hardware capabilites.

  • On a Playstation 5, press the logo on the controller open the home screen then select Settings > Sound > Microphone. Set the Input Device to Controller Headset then Adjust Microphone Level as desired.

  • On a Playstation 4, press the logo on the controller to open the Quick Menu then select Sound/Devices. Disable the Mute All Microphones option then Adjust Microphone Level as desired.

  • On an Xbox One system, press the logo on the controller to open the guide, select the Profile & system icon then select Audio in the upper-right corner of the guide. Enable the Headset mic setting at the top of the screen.

  • On a PC running Windows 10, right-click on the speaker icon in the lower-right corner of the screen then select Open Sound settings. When the Bose PC desktop controller is in use, set the Choose your input device selection to Microphone (Bose PC Desktop Controller), otherwise select the option that refers to the hardware the headset is connected to.

  • On a Mac, open the Apple menu then select System Preferences > Sound > Input. When the Bose PC desktop controller is in use, set Bose PC Desktop Controller as the device for sound input, otherwise select the option that refers to the hardware the headset is connected to.
